New Build Private Residential Property, Ascot

About this project

Haddonstone was commissioned to produce high-quality cast stone architectural components for this stunning bespoke Georgian-style new build property in Ascot.

With our team’s help, our client was able to integrate beautiful bespoke façade stonework and window dressings to the front elevation of their design.

To the rear of the property, our client selected bespoke Haddonstone landscaping designs including steps and piers in order to create a new patio area.

Each bespoke cast stone component for this project was produced in our own Northamptonshire manufactory using our TecStone (wet-cast limestone) material, and in Portland colour.

Bespoke Portico

Our client chose to install an attractive bespoke cast stone portico to the front elevation of their property.  The portico transformed the overall design, adding a practical and stylish porch, as well as symmetry and harmony to the overall façade.

The completed portico features four smooth columns which are raised on cast stone pedestals and bases.  Each column is completed with bespoke capital details produced especially for this project.  The capitals were based on the proportions of our classical Corinthian capital, which traditionally features acanthus leaves, however with a more simplified Corinthian design.

The smooth columns and pared back capitals fitted seamlessly with our client’s modern take on Neo-Georgian architecture.

A bespoke balcony was constructed above the portico entablature and featured various cast stone elements including bespoke balustrade and screening detail, railing and piers.

Window Dressings

A range of smart cast stone window dressings were chosen for this new build property.  The variety of styles helped to add interest and sophistication to the property’s overall design.

Straight and arched window heads, and window cills all feature prominently on both the front and rear elevations of the property.

Decorative Neo-classical window surrounds were added to the whole of the front elevation, as well as simpler window heads.

Finally, for a more unusual finishing touch, a bulls-eye style window surround from our standard range was added to the front gable.

Plinths and Piers

To the rear of the property, our client wanted to create a practical and stylish garden patio area.

Two smart stairways leading from the lawn to the patio area, and from the lawn to the back entrance of the house were especially created for this project.

Haddonstone’s smart and long-lasting landscaping elements including our standard balustrade piers and plinths were adapted for use with our client’s more modern glass balustrade detail.

Other Stonework

Our team manufactured additional cast stonework components for this project including:

• Apex copings
• String course
• Decorative panels
• Corbels
• Bespoke reinforced canopy head above the annex door, manufactured to match the cornice to the front elevation and supported by brackets.

Jacquemart Hunting Dogs

Our client chose two of our noble Jacquemart Hunting Dogs to help guard the steps leading to their smart new patio area.

The left and right hand-side nineteenth-century sculptures were handmade to order in Slate colour.

Our Jacquemart Hunting Dogs are popular with clients in rural, urban and suburban settings.  They have been replicated from original lead designs crafted by Henri Alfred Marie Jacquemart, a notable Parisian sculptor in the late 19th century.
