The history of Haddonstone

Established by Robert ‘Bob’ Barrow in 1971, Haddonstone’s aim was to produce high quality decorative cast stonework. Working out of his garage, Bob produced a modest range of seven garden designs – six of which continue to be bestsellers today. A year later, Haddonstone exhibited for the first time at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show and soon became an established exhibitor at the show.

Our collection has subsequently grown to over a thousand standard designs including fountains, statuary and sundials, as well as planters, garden furniture, bird baths and balustrading.  Our products are available in traditional, contemporary and classical styles and we continue to regularly introduce new products to the market.

Expansion into architectural stonework

The demand for high-quality cast stone landscaping, building and construction products resulted in us expanding our portfolio to include standard design and bespoke architectural stonework. Our architectural stonework has been used in the construction and renovation of a broad range of prestigious buildings and projects across the world, including private residences, international hotels, palaces, stately homes, National Trust properties and RHS gardens.

Growing facilities

From our modest beginnings in 1971, by 1987 we’d moved our manufactory to a purpose-built complex in Northamptonshire. The five acre site comprises our 54,000 sq ft manufactory, design studio mould shop, laboratory and vapour curing chamber, together with an extensive yard and loading area.   Over the years the premises have been extended, developed and modernised on multiple occasions to ensure that Haddonstone remains at the forefront of technological advances in the design and manufacture of cast stone products. We are committed to best practice environmental and sustainability policies.  Our objectives include energy and resource conservation; reducing pollution; waste reduction and recycling; and the minimisation of hazardous substance use.

Haddonstone Worldwide

Haddonstone’s USA group company opened in Colorado in 1996 and comprises a head office, manufactory and warehouse.  In addition, Haddonstone has representation across North America, Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and Australasia.   Our well-established USA and Export Teams manage all of our international activities and also support a growing group of international stockists and distributors worldwide.
