Follies

A picturesque and creative addition to a modern garden or landscape.

Create your unique folly

Follies, sometimes known as grottoes or ruins, have a unique and almost magical element to them. Sometimes Classical, sometimes Gothic in style, they were popular in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries due to their aesthetically romantic qualities. Whether designed as a celebration of an event or person, or simply as a beautiful view point, a folly can inject personality and intrigue into any modern garden today.

Choose your components

Our follies are comprised of a selection of our architectural stonework components, including columns, quoins, balustrading and entablatures. Each component is handmade to order, with custom-made sizes and designs available on request. Download technical documents

As seen at the Chelsea Flower Show

Our medal-winning follies have been featured in numerous displays at the Chelsea Flower Show. Inspired by the works of Piranesi, this folly used a standard Haddonstone design to recreate an evocative scene of Roman antiquity and now stands in our Northamptonshire show gardens.

Meeting the standards

Haddonstone has a minimum compressive cube strength after 28 days greater than 35 MPa, and TecStone’s is greater than 45 MPa, meaning it complies with the requirements of BS 1217:2008, BS5642-2: 1983 + A1 2014 and BS EN 13198: 2003.
