Bespoke Residential Portico Project
About this project
Haddonstone was commissioned by A.M.Meri Architects to produce a completely bespoke four-column portico for their residential client’s property.
We also supplied a beautiful pool surround which creates the new fish pond to the rear of the property.
Our TecStone (wet-cast limestone) material was chosen for this project because of its density and strength. Each cast stone component was created by pouring the TecStone mix into our wooden moulds, before being hand finished and acid etched. This tried and tested method, which has been perfected over 50 years means that the final stonework is smooth and has a sealed surface, much akin to Coade stone. TecStone is regularly chosen as the material of choice for large architectural projects and complex designs. It weathers much slower than other cast stone materials and its smooth texture means that it is also much easier to clean.
Haddonstone’s Ivory Limestone colour was chosen.

“This is one of the most prestigious project was designed and fully implemented during humanity’s most challenging time because of Covid-19.
The brief was to fully redesign the building with extension by retaining some of the external envelops and elements.
The architect Abebaw M Meri developed the design, while simultaneously embracing the tenets of modernist design and advanced contemporary technology such as lighting control system, lighting features and combination of mathematical and organic geometry with the use of modern materials internally, he introduced a sophisticated neoclassical features externally such as a grand portico.
This harmony of modern and classical architecture created a unique space for the owner both aesthetically and functionally. The link between newly reformatted magnificent garden with new fish pond ,water fall and the living space at each level carefully coordinated with fenestrations to maximize a pleasing array of visual elements in a landscape”.
