Haddonstone was commissioned by Warwick Castle to reproduce the urn as part of the castle’s restoration project for the Rose Garden. Reopened in 1986 by HRH The Princess of Wales, The Rose Garden was restored back to its original design.
The Warwick Castle Urn, featuring bold gadrooning, tapers to a narrow-necked rim and is unique in its design.

Warwick Castle is one of the finest medieval castles in England. When Lancelot (Capability) Brown, the popular landscape gardener, rearranged the layout to create a better view for the inhabitants of the castle, Brown created a smooth flow of land down to the River Avon and beautiful rolling fields beyond. The then occupants of the castle did not want to have their view spoiled by peasant tenant farmers and so large tracts of land were landscaped purely for the owner’s aesthetic appreciation.
The conservatory became a central focal point within the Rose Garden, incorporated into the design were the urns. Demolished to make way for a tennis court in the early 20th century, the drawings were preserved and it was from these drawings that Haddonstone was able to recreate the urn.
Reopened in 1986 by HRH The Princess of Wales, The Rose Garden was restored back to its original design.
