About this project

Haddonstone was commissioned by Pennsylvania-based Archer & Buchanan Architects to produce a wide range of cast stone landscaping and architectural components for this beautiful property in Devon, Pennsylvania.

Fairfield Residence was originally designed in 1900 by John Torrey Windram, the architect of Philadelphia Waterworks.

This Georgian redbrick property has undergone several renovations over the decades, most recently by Archer & Buchanan.  The architects practice was tasked with extending the residence to include a new service wing and pool house, a separate garage with integrated apartment, and several additional modern amenities for both outdoor and indoor living and entertaining.

The additional living spaces were designed with a sympathetic nod to Windram’s original vision, preserving the architectural integrity of original materials and details, whilst adapting this Edwardian-era property into a large, modern family home.

Our solution

Working closely with Archer & Buchanan, as well as Templeton Landscape Design, and E.C. Trethewey builders, our team manufactured each new cast stone element in our classic Portland colour, as well as in our TecStone wet-cast limestone material.

The new cast stone elements included various landscaping designs and cast stonework to the new pool house and main property.

This included:

• Balustrade
• Pool copings
• Paving and steps
• Portico
• Façade stonework
• Traditional planters and pedestals

Each component for this project was produced by our craftsmen, in our own Pueblo, Colorado manufactory.
