The Client
Cavendish Bespoke is a specialist design and build company, delivering first-class, unique homes that are tailored to exceed their clients’ exacting requirements.
Haddonstone was commissioned by Cavendish Bespoke to produce a large volume of completely bespoke stonework for this award-winning South Buckinghamshire property.
The cast stone components were installed by both L A Simblet and GC Stonework. Both highly skilled stone contractors were chosen for their expertise and both are members of our Independent Installer Scheme.
Cavendish Bespoke were awarded Best Luxury Development Project 2020 for this property by BUILD Magazine.
The Brief
Working to their client’s exacting specifications, Cavendish Bespoke entrusted Haddonstone’s expert team to produce and deliver a large consignment of almost 100% completely bespoke stonework.
From individual stone components including the wall and window dressings, to producing a reinforced cast stone solution for the production of the significant bespoke loggia at the rear of the property, our in-house team was tasked to create the highest-quality architectural stonework for this stunning build.
To create harmony between the main residence and the landscaping and outbuildings, our team were also commissioned to produce cast stone components for the three-car garage, gate pier, gateway and landscaping. The property’s garden is a long acre and was designed by multi-RHS award winner Andy Sturgeon and so it was imperative that the quality of these additional elements matched the refinement of the outside space.
The Solution
All of the architectural cast stone elements were produced using our wet-cast limestone TecStone material. This material was chosen for its smooth, contemporary surface texture which does not weather quickly and is easy to clean. This robust material was also chosen because our team were able to incorporate structural reinforcement and cast-in fixings, which were required for the creation of the loggia.
A bespoke colour was developed especially for the project, so that the cast stonework would beautifully complement and contrast with the yellow brickwork.
As an almost entirely bespoke commission, there were many tricky elements to this project such as the arched curved heads and the loggia, which created some structural and design challenges. Our highly experienced and skilled studio team met these challenges and were able to execute the design and production of some of these more tricky elements.

Bespoke Haddonstone components produced for the project:
- Façade stonework to create a smart, grand porch and entrance way – this incorporated window heads, sills and a bulls-eye window surround, door surround, cladding and ashlar walling, floor-to-roofline fluted pilasters and cornice
- Wall dressings including plinth, band and string course
- Upper cornice with simple decorative moulding to encircle and crown the roofline
- Curved loggia featuring an upper balcony and Tuscan columns and pilasters
- Complementary cast stone gateway and smartly designed gate piers that form the grand entrance to the property
- Custom cast stone designs were also created to complete the stylish, complementary three-car detached garage.
Bespoke Loggia
The bespoke curved loggia is seamlessly integrated into the rear of the property. It was designed to provide both a sheltered dining area, accessible through double patio doors, as well as an open balcony which can be used for relaxing and entertaining.
The loggia was created with almost entirely bespoke Haddonstone stonework. The choice of colour, texture and design effortlessly match the property’s style and grandeur.
The two plain, Tuscan columns and four matching pilasters were selected from our standard range.
Such was the client’s attention to detail, that the in-built lightwells incorporated the same window surrounds as used on the main house. Further, each side of the lightwells were built with the same ashlar walling as the main façade.
Bespoke gateway, garage and gate pier
In addition to the main residence, we were commissioned to produce bespoke cast stone solutions as part of the project’s landscaping requirements. This included a bespoke gateway to the side of the house, created in matching cladding, as well as smartly designed gate piers that form the grand entrance to the property.
Custom cast stone designs were also created to complete the stylish, complementary three-car detached garage.
