Belton was designed in a restrained Palladian architectural style. The general form this architectural style was severely symmetrical. Closer to Belton House were a series of more formal Gardens, including canal ponds bordered by plantations containing symmetrical walks inspired by the Landscape Gardener Andre le Notre (1613 –1700). The later Italian Garden and orangery. were designed by Jeffry Wyatville (1766 –1840) in the early nineteenth century. Belton House is now owned by the National Trust.
