Façade Stonework

Columns & pilasters

Take inspiration from the architecture of ancient Rome and Greece.

Classically Designed Cast Stone Columns

Our elegant cast stone columns are the perfect structural element for any entrance.  Inspired by the architecture of Ancient Rome and Greece, our impressive range of columns are designed in the classical Corinthian, Doric, Ionic and Tuscan orders and in both fluted and plain styles.

We cast all our columns in rubber moulds, significantly reducing the visibility of unsightly seams and ensuring only the highest quality stonework is delivered to your project.

Our range of smaller columns are supplied in one-piece shafts, whilst larger options are supplied in drum sections, mirroring the style of traditional natural stone columns and enabling for flexible heights.

As well as our standard range of columns, we can produce half round columns and square column pilasters.

  • Flexible column heights available
  • Available in a range of standard designs or to bespoke specification
  • Half columns and pilasters available
  • Can be combined with other elements

Perfectly crafted pilasters

Classical pilasters (sometimes referred to as pillars) are an alternative to our columns and can easily be incorporated into a new or a renovation design.  Pilasters are often chosen for architectural projects to complement our matching columns and other stonework.

Our pilasters are rectangular in plan and unlike our columns, are designed to project from a surface wall.  This means that where space is limited, pilasters can be offer the impressiveness of columns, without overbearing the scale of the architectural design.  Like our columns, all of our pilasters are handcrafted with the very best attention to detail.

We are able to produce pilasters in a range of heights and widths and we can also create bespoke designs to suit your project’s unique specifications.

Reinforced columns for structural strength

Our columns are supplied with a hollow core as standard or are supplied in halves for cladding steel.  They can also be filled with reinforced concrete or used to sleeve a structural steel member. We also make sure our columns and pilasters are supplied in component form so as to allow for easy installation.

Our columns should be erected on suitable foundations, designed by a structural engineer, to suit loadings and ground conditions.  For detailed installation information, please see our technical sheets.
